Goldilocks Anesthesia Foundation

Making brain monitoring a 21st century standard of anesthesia care for Major Surgery

Barry L. Friedberg M.D.
Board Certified Anesthesiologist
President and Foundation Founder

Goldilocks Anesthesia

All the monitors usually used on your body during surgery (heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels) only reflect the response of the lowest part of your brain to anesthetics.

However, anesthetics medicate the highest part, the part behind your forehead. The brain monitor sensor we advocate sits on your forehead and reflects your brain’s response.

The brain monitor allows the patient’s responses while asleep to ‘control’ the anesthetic dose so you don’t go too far under and come out with “brain fog” or come too close to awake and experience discomfort.

Non-Profit

The Goldilocks Anesthesia Foundation is a non-profit, public benefit corporation, whose mission is to provide education and training to doctors and the general public on the dangers of anesthesia over-medication and under-medication — and the simplest, most effective way to avoid it: Goldilocks Anesthesia. The foundation was founded in 2009 to continue the tireless efforts of its founder, Dr. Barry Friedberg.

Dr. Friedberg first established his own website, www.doctorfriedberg.com, in 2001, and has continued to advocate for the use of brain monitors in surgery ever since. Dr. Friedberg continues to practice medicine, while running the foundation and promoting the foundation’s message across America.

The foundation is a registered California Public Benefit Corporation, and is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) organization.

Disclaimer: Neither Dr. Friedberg nor the Goldilocks Anesthesia Foundation have any financial interest in any of the makers of brain monitors.
